March 2005 3RD ANNUAL GOLF SCRAMBLE
The event will be held at the Siren Glen Golf Club
located about seven miles from Luther Point near Siren, Wisconsin. Click
on the logo above to go to the Siren Glen web page. It is a 4-Person Scramble Tournament. The cost of registration
will be $59 per golfer, this includes $32 for expenses and $27 as a donation
to Luther Point. This year's proceeds will go toward the Campership fund. Come join us for a day of fellowship, fun and enjoyment in the outdoors of northwest Wisconsin and to raise some much needed financial support for the Luther Point Campership Fund. Last year we raised over $5,000 and we are hopeful we will raise that much if not more this year. $5,000 in camperships will help make it possible for many youth to come to camp.
We are very pleased to announce that renovation work on Jericho Family Cabin will be complete this month. The final touches will be made on the cabin in the coming weeks with the installation of furniture and beds. A HEARTFELT THANK YOU to all the volunteers and donors who helped to make this project possible. A special thank you to Faith Lutheran Church, Grantsburg, WI who donated $15,000 from the Alan Anderson Estate. This gift provided the majority of the financial means for the renovation of this cabin. A special thank you to Bryan Briggs from St. Croix Ceramic and Stone, Shell Lake, WI for donating all the ceramic tile, grout and labor at no cost for the kitchen, bathroom and entrance flooring. Thank you also to the Women of Bone Lake Lutheran, Luck, WI who are paying for the upholstery work on an antique couch and chair from the cabin. Thank you for the many hours of volunteer work provided by Orvin Luehman, Star Prairie, WI; Glen Abrahamson, Braham, MN; Steve Findlay, Hammond, WI; Robert Swanson, Jan Gunderson, John Henning, and Steve Johnson, River Falls, WI. Confirmation students from Peace Lutheran, Baldwin, WI helped with clean up, thank you! Individuals and families have a wonderful opportunity to spend some quality time at the camp. Some of the other amenities that come with spending time at camp, especially in the summer time are, use of canoes, paddleboats, pontoon boat, waterfront during designated hours and the awesome natural environment. We still have three more family cabins beyond Jericho that we intend to remodel and make available for year-round use. We continue to seek and ask for individuals, families and churches who are lead to give toward this project. Thank you to the following individuals, families, churches and church women who have contributed towards this project: Over $2,000 $1,250 - $500 $100 - $499 up to $99
CAMPER CABIN REVIVAL The Camper Cabin Revival will include: 1) New countertops and sinks in the bathroom area. 2) Two new toilets in each cabin. 3) 50 new bunks and 150 new mattresses. 4) Replace several screen doors. 5) Replace several windows. 6) Paint interior walls and floors. The anticipated cost for all of these improvements is over $30,000. One of the grant stipulations is accumulating 825 hours of volunteer service. This is where you can help Revive the Camper Cabins. We are asking each of our congregations to have a Camper Cabin Revival Event such as a Walkathon, a Bikathon, a Bake Sale, a Car Wash or some other fundraising event. Each Camper Cabin Revival Event will accomplish two purposes. 1) Everyone who participates will help reach the 825 hours of volunteer service needed for the Thrivent Grant. 2) Additional funds that are raised through the Event will help toward the $30,000 to complete the Camper Cabin Revival! The overall success of this project will be dependent upon how much each of you participate. The $5,000 from Thrivent Financial for Lutherans is only a fraction of the total cost for this project. This is why it is so vitally important that each congregation participate in the fund raising event. We are recommending Sunday, June 5th as the designated day for the walk-a-thon or related fundraiser. Each congregation has a Thrivent contact person. They will be provided with sign up forms and pledge forms. More details will be forthcoming in the very near future.
Pictured to the left are some wonderful volunteers from Polk County who have worked hard stuffing envelopes. They are pictured left to right: Jordan Warwas, Josh Frenning, Amanda Ness, Tyler Kuhn, and Ryan Johnson. Below is a list of many of the volunteers that came to camp and helped in 2004. This list is incomplete but we want each of you to know how much we appreciate you even if you are not listed! In the future we hope to feature a complete list of our volunteers for the previous quarter. Thanks again! Abrahamson, Glen;

Members: Camperships and Incentives make a difference Camperships and incentives make the difference between coming to camp and not coming to camp for many youth. Luther Point is dedicated to a policy of accepting every child who wants to learn about Jesus regardless of their ability to pay. Last year Luther Point provided over $15,000 in camperships and incentives thereby making the difference in many children’s lives. This year Luther Point has received a generous pledge of $6,000 for camperships. There are many youth in need and we would like to see that $6,000 pledge doubled or even tripled by matching gifts from individuals; through the fundraising efforts of the Golf Scramble; and through the Spring Phonathon. If you know of someone who needs financial assistance, please contact your church first (many congregations have financial assistance). If they don’t have a church or they need additional assistance, please contact us. We have campership forms available on-line as well as at the office. We encourage you to make an additional gift to the camp designated for camperships. Help make a difference in a child’s life by sending them to Bible Camp.
Thank you to the following people who have given to the LPBC Foundation:
