Sample Skit to Be Used During Worship:

Why Did You Come to Camp?

Need:  One main character, approximately 5 others

The skit begins with the main character alone wondering why people go to camp.  The first person will pretend to be walking by and the main character will ask them their reason for going to camp.  The person will respond with reasons such as the lake, cute girls, cute boys, candy, scraping plates, bugs, the river, etc.  The main character will say something such as, “Well that is a good reason to come to camp I guess, but there must be more reasons.”  The next person will come out and give yet another silly reason why they came to camp.  This goes on until the last person comes out and when asked why they came to camp they say, “Well I can’t really put it in words, mind if I show you?”  then that person will get down on their knees and pray.  The main character will explain how they finally get the real reason for camp.

Welcome:

Welcome to Camp Sunday at (Congregation).  As the Ambassador to Luther Point for (Congregation), I am excited to be able to share the transformational outdoor ministry that camp offers.  Throughout worship today we will be experiencing elements focused on the 2011 summer camp theme – “Gathered By Grace” This theme focuses on how we are chosen by Jesus to belong to him despite our faults and failings.  Luther Point is committed to serving God through the sharing of the Gospel with our youth so that they might become closer to Christ and build up lives of faith.  After the service, you will have an opportunity to register your child for camp this summer.  I invite you to take this chance for your child to enjoy an amazing camping experience.
